Albedo Informatics is seeking a Mobile Game Developer with experience developing mobile games with location-based / GPS / AR features to join their team in Toronto, Ontario.

 

Position Details

  • Role:  Mobile Game Developer (Location-Based / GPS Games)
  • Location: Toronto, Ontario
  • Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
  • Wage: $75,000
  • Hours: 40 hours per week

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize mobile game features integrating real-time GPS/location-based services.
  • Implement core gameplay mechanics related to mapping, geofencing, and augmented exploration.
  • Collaborate with artists, designers, and the coding team to deliver engaging, location-aware experiences.
  • Ensure application performance, stability, and security across iOS and Android devices.
  • Maintain clean, well-documented, and scalable code following best practices.
  • Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and daily standups as part of an agile team.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ professional experience developing mobile games with GPS/location-based features.
  • Proficiency in Unity (C#) or Unreal Engine (C++/Blueprints) with demonstrated experience in location-based gameplay.
  • Strong knowledge of mobile platforms (iOS/Android) and SDKs for location services (e.g., Google Maps ,Mapbox, Openstreetmaps).
  • Experience integrating APIs for maps, geolocation, or real-world data.
  • Strong understanding of networking and data synchronization for mobile multiplayer features.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.

 

Required Experience

  • Experience working on released location-based games (e.g., AR/geo-exploration, Pokémon GO-style games).
  • Familiarity with augmented reality frameworks.
  • Knowledge of cloud services for game backends (AWS, PlayFab, Firebase).
  • Passion for RPGs and experimental game design.

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Game Development, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
