△Ark is looking for an artist to ideate, design and build three sculptures for Novascene, an experimental Unreal Engine audiovisual performance project.

The world:
Humans live inside a massive artificial superintelligence (the way gut bacteria live inside us), on a megastructure on a planet.
The sculptures:
Three monumental statues, each the centerpiece of a different village (on the megastructure). The figures are chimeras—animals with technological elements doing human things. They're an allegory: humans in this world are uplifting animals into technological beings, which mirrors what the artificial superintelligences are doing to us. These are a big part of the project. They need to be detailed, symbolic, and interesting—each one should tell a story in sculptural form. They can't be literal or obvious. They are sort of “an allegory for the religious beliefs of these people,” so we’ll have to flesh out those allegories together.

Think Bernini x Watership Down x Neon Genesis Evangelion. We're looking for that level of craft and strangeness—not cool sci-fi creatures, but figures that hold weight the way devotional sculpture does.
