Hello,
I'm an indie developer working on a first-person 3D narrative game (stylized semi-realistic, not photorealistic) built in Unity 6 URP. The game features a cast of characters who appear in close-range narrative sequences across various game levels. I need a character modeler to bring these characters from concept art into game-ready 3D.
The style target sits between stylized character design and grounded 3D — slightly stylized proportions, expressive faces, sculpted hair with volume and flow, and clothing with real construction detail (fabric weight, seam lines, layered garments). Enough surface texture that characters feel material under atmospheric lighting.
About the Project
This is a first-person narrative investigation game built in Unity 6 URP, set across various locations in the Pacific Northwest. The game blends supernatural investigative drama with elements of psychological horror.
The player transitions between reality and an altered reality of the same environment, each with different lighting, atmosphere, and color grading. The art style is stylized semi-realistic that's grounded enough to support close-range character interaction and atmospheric storytelling. The visual identity ranges from warm domestic interiors to cold institutional facilities to deep shadow horror.
The project is in active development with multiple production tracks underway. This is an independently funded project with a small distributed team. Payment structure is flexible and can be discussed with candidates.
Initial scope — 1 character:
Game-ready model with clean topology suitable for rigging (rigging handled separately), full clothing/hair/accessories, UV-unwrapped and PBR-textured for Unity 6 URP. I'll provide concept art in A/T hybrid pose — some fine-grained detail (e.g. fabric edges, hair flow, clothing construction) will require interpretation beyond the 2D reference.
Ongoing scope:
The full cast is 10+ additional characters at varying detail levels — core cast at the same standard, supporting cast at slightly reduced detail, background figures at a lower tier. Contracted per character or in small batches after the initial character.
Technical requirements:
Other notes:
I prefer per-character or milestone-based pricing. This is also fully remote with async communication. Open to working across timezones.
