We have a composer role available on Contingent. We are seeking a talented musician able to write and produce complete musical tracks.
Contingent has a dark and gritty soundtrack, with light theatrical / orchestral elements and a heavy emphasis on dynamic soundscapes, with both horizontal and vertical techniques.
We have a core established style we’ll be looking at you to match, but there is a large amount of freedom that will enable you to make this soundtrack your own. References for inspiration are below.
Requirements
Nice to haves
Compensation
£150 – £1,000 per minute of complete music, plus £20/h – £50/h for integration work (if applicable)
Pay Range Explained
At the low end of the pay scale, we expect someone who has basic knowledge of building dynamic sound tracks, but may need additional direction from our team, and we’d be responsible for integration.
At the upper end we expect an exceptional portfolio of immediately adjacent music, with plenty of tangible experience building dynamic soundtracks and runtime effects, including stingers etc., with in-engine demonstrable integrations. Ideally with good connections with trusted orchestra’s and vocalists, and proven pipelines.
Musical References
Here is a selection of music we feel best captivates the approach we’re after. There is a huge variance in scope in Contingent, from the individual soldier level to commanding a vast empire. The music should reflect this, with plenty of dynamic range.
Some of these pieces are more orchestral than we are aiming for, but do convey the mood we’re after!
