Clever Plays is looking for a versatile, creative, autonomous and highly organized Engagement and Content Marketer to join the front lines of our upcoming campaign for Happy Bastards and other projects.
In this role, you’ll drive engagement across our social and community channels - shaping the voice of a game built on personality and irreverence. You’ll grow and energize our community, organize playtests, create memorable live moments, and support creators in showcasing what makes Happy Bastards unique.
Key Responsibilities
1. Content Strategy and Creation
- Develop an understanding and knowledge about Happy Bastards' genre (tactical RPG) and target audience.
- Develop and execute a multi-channel content strategy and roadmap (Discord, Reddit, Steam, Youtube, TikTok, X/Twitter).
- Create engaging written content, including publishing versions of dev logs, patch notes, and high-energy social posts.
- Produce simple marketing visual assets (Photoshop, Premiere, or similar) and collaborate with concepts and ideas for the production of more complex marketing assets with the art team.
- Capture and edit in-game footage using tools like OBS to highlight both the “suffering” and triumph of the Happy Bastards experience.
- Analyze and report KPI to iterate on content strategy.
2. Community Engagement
- Act as a key voice in our Discord and Reddit communities, fostering a healthy, humorous, and active player base.
- Support playtests, ensuring smooth player onboarding, feedback collection, and post-playtest communication.
- Monitor our various platforms and gather players' feedback, to present these insights to the development team.
- Monitor community sentiment and engage directly in day-to-day interactions.
- Analyze and report KPI on community growth.
3. Event Coordination
- Support the planning, execution and lead our participation in digital festivals and physical events. Sometimes, this will involve travelling locally and internationally.
- Coordinate live moments such as developer Q&As, AMAs, gameplay premiere streams, and playtest activations.
- Represent the voice of the studio in interviews, panels and public events.
4. Influencer & Partner Collaboration
- Identify and connect with creators who align with the game’s tone and audience.
- Manage the delivery of influencer kits (keys, assets, messaging) to ensure a seamless creator experience.
- Monitor, analyze and report on the performance of creator-led campaigns.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in communication, marketing or equivalent.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience managing online communities or creating digital content, preferably in gaming, entertainment, or a related fast-paced industry.
- Gaming Fluency: A deep passion for video games and a native understanding of modern gaming internet culture, platforms, and memes.
- Technical Skillset: Strong proficiency with video editing apps (like CapCut, Premiere, or DaVinci Resolve) and visual design platforms like Canva or Photshop.
- Exceptional Communication: Top-tier written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to write witty social copy or empathetic crisis communications under pressure.
- Language & Location: Based in Montreal, QC (for local events and occasional meetings). Fluency in English is required for our global community; working knowledge of French is a major asset for studio collaboration.
Bonus Points
- Experience with tactical or strategy games.
- Participation in or contribution to a successful game launch campaign.
How to Apply
Send your CV and a small cover letter describing why you are interested in this project and examples how you have created engagement and increase community size in previous projects. Apply before the 15th of June 2026.
