I'm a solo dev working on a Game Boy Color-inspired RPG. I'm hiring a composer / sound designer to help define the game's audio identity and produce an initial set of music and sound effects.
Music
- Gothic chiptune. Minor key, arpeggios, melody-driven
- Loop Hero meets Mina the Hollower. The moodier tracks from both, not the upbeat boss fights
- Made in a chip tracker on Game Boy hardware. Furnace, LSDj, whatever you use. Expansion chips welcome, modern synths are not
Sound effects
- Crunchy and degraded
- Both Loop Hero and Mina the Hollower have some good examples. Nothing high-pitched or beepy
- Same hardware and tracker requirements as the music
The job
- Roughly 4 tracks and 10 sound effects, small and highly polished, for a pitch video and early marketing materials
- You deliver the audio files and I'll handle putting them in the game
- If we work well together, the full game will need tons of audio and I'd love to continue the relationship
Terms
- Paid test for anyone who looks like a fit, one round of notes included in the fee
- Sign an NDA before I send the test brief
- Work-for-hire
- No generative AI at any stage
To apply
- Send an email with your portfolio or reel
- Chip music or sound design that fits the above
- Your rates and availability
