Drinkbox Studios is looking for an external Senior Narrative Designer to help create a new universe, working with our small team to develop and flesh out narrative systems and presentation.

The Senior Narrative Designer will touch on all narrative aspects of an unannounced project. This includes high level narrative structure, narrative systems design, lore and world building, characters, dialogue, and general writing.

This is a contract, remote (or optionally: hybrid) position, with the ideal candidate working and living in Ontario, Canada. The initial contract is for 1-2 days per week, with a possibility of expanded hours in the future.

The ideal candidate is an effective communicator and collaborator who is highly organized and can work with little to no direction.

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with leads to define and iterate on the larger narrative structure of the game.
• Developing diverse characters with relatable dialogue and backstories.
• Creating interesting events and story beats that fit within a larger narrative.
• Communicating with the technical and design teams to ensure narrative elements are correctly represented in gameplay.
• Expanding and maintaining a lore bible, in collaboration with other team members.
• Writing dialogue and other in-game text.

Qualifications

• Previous narrative design and/or game writing experience. Ability to show previous work, to demonstrate strong design and writing skills.
• Highly organised.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work as part of a larger team, in a collaborative, flexible and iterative manner.

Pluses

• Resident of Ontario, Canada.
• Interest in and/or experience working on non-linear stories.
