About eargym

eargym is building a mobile app that helps people measure and improve their hearing through neuroscience-based auditory training.

We are working with health, audiology and OTC partners to make hearing health accessible earlier in life.

We are entering a focused technical phase: consolidating our existing Unity + Flutter architecture into a clean Unity-only codebase.

We are looking for a Unity developer who enjoys refactoring, architecture improvement, and shipping production mobile apps.

PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU HAVE SHIPPED AT LEAST ONE APPLICATION TO iOS OR ANDROID

The Project

We are seeking an experienced Unity mobile developer to lead the phased migration of our app into a clean, maintainable Unity-only architecture.

You will work with light-touch architectural oversight from our Lead Engineer (2–4 hrs/week) and will be expected to operate independently with clear milestone ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Audit and map existing Unity + Flutter architecture
  • Design a pragmatic Unity-only migration strategy
  • Lead phased feature migration into modular C# structure
  • Maintain and stabilise iOS and Android build pipelines
  • Improve performance, stability, and maintainability
  • Document architectural decisions and build processes
  • Deliver production-ready releases during the contract period

Experience Required

  • 3–6 years professional Unity development
  • Experience shipping at least one Unity mobile application (iOS or Android)
  • Strong C# architecture and refactoring skills
  • Experience improving or restructuring an existing codebase
  • Experience with Firebase / Firestore or similar backend services
  • Strong understanding of mobile performance constraints
  • Experience working in small teams or startups
  • Ability to work independently with limited oversight
  • Clear written and verbal communication in English

Desirable

  • Experience with audio processing or real-time systems
  • Experience refactoring or migrating legacy codebases
  • Experience in adaptive algorithms
  • Experience in healthtech or regulated products

What Makes This Interesting

  • High ownership role with real architectural impact
  • Opportunity to rebuild a production app architecture
  • Work directly with an experienced lead engineer
  • Mission-driven product improving hearing health
  • Potential to convert to a permanent role as the company scales

This role suits developers who enjoy improving existing systems rather than building games from scratch.

When applying, please include:

  • A link to a Unity app you have shipped
  • A short description of your role in that project
  • A CV and eargym-specific covering letter

Shortlisting will take place w/c 23rd March 2026.

Thank you
