Fiction Blues is a new indie game studio made up of AAA devs dedicated to crafting immersive, atmospheric experiences. We’re currently pushing the limits with something new, and we’re looking for a full-time Unreal Engine programmer to help bring it to life.
If you’re passionate about horror games, love working in Unreal Engine, and want to be part of a small but ambitious team, we’d love to hear from you!
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Developing gameplay systems in Unreal Engine 5 using C++ and Blueprints.
- Design, build and maintain seamless P2P multiplayer servers.
- Work with design to implement player mechanics, enemy AI, and networking features.
- Optimizing performance to ensure smooth and immersive gameplay.
- Collaborating closely with designers and artists to bring features to life.
- Debugging and iterating based on playtesting and feedback.
What We’re Looking For:
- 3 years game industry coding experience
- Expert proficiency in C++ (we need someone who can cut C++ like a pro!)
- Strong experience with Unreal Engine 5 (or UE4 with a willingness to adapt) or other proprietary engines.
- Solid understanding of gameplay programming, physics, and AI.
- Experience working on networked multiplayer games.
- A problem-solving mindset, things break, and you love figuring out why.
- Must be based in Australia (remote-friendly but within this time zone).
Bonus Skills (Nice to Have, But Not Required):
- Experience with procedural generation or dynamic environments.
- Knowledge of Unreal Engine UI systems (UMG, Slate, etc.).
- Previous work on horror, thriller or dark atmospheric games.
- Experience in First-Person games.
Additional Details:
- Location: Australia (Remote/Flexible)
- Type: Full-Time
