Frightmare Studios is a small remote indie studio creating a horror game. We are looking for a capable 2D horror artist to create striking key art for kick-starting our marketing campaign!
COMING HOME is a retro FNAF-like slasher horror game, inspired by the horror classics of the 80s. Barricade your garage-turned-office, inspect your security system for intruders, and listen closely for what lurks in the dark – anything to keep the Sundown Rippers from claiming their next victim.
General Information
- This position is fully remote. While the company is based in the Netherlands, all of us are located at different places in the world. We are flexible with time zones and schedules.
- This is a paid freelance job. We tell you the work that needs to be done, and then negotiate a price and deadline for the work beforehand. We may have to make changes or additions to the required work later as the game develops. If that happens, we’ll quickly contact you about this and renegotiate the deal.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high quality hand-drawn (digital) graphical assets for our Steam page and press kit. Think logo, thumbnails/capsules, digital library covers, headers, et cetera.
- Create works that evoke the feeling of 70s-80s VHS cover art.
- Work from specifications and references set by the directors, but also bring in your own knowledge and experience to improve upon their ideas.
- Help develop a striking identity and branding for the game that helps it stand out from the crowd.
- Collaborate closely with the game’s directors and iterate on work based on feedback.
Requirements
- A strong portfolio showcasing high quality hand-drawn (digital) artwork.
- Experience with drawing and designing with a horror theme.
- Experience with creating key art for media.
- Strong (English) communication skills.
- Ability to communicate regularly with the rest of the team.
Bonus Requirements
- Experience with creating key art for Steam games specifically is a major plus.
- Familiarity with slasher horror is a major plus!
- Experience working in specifically a 70s-80s VHS cover art style is a plus.
How to apply
