Gen Eight Games is an independent, Indigenous-run game studio based in Tkaronto, Canada. We were founded in 2024 to develop Where Nations Gather, a powwow management and rhythm game. Thanks to recently secured funding, we are focused on building our first playable demo. This is where you come in. We are looking for passionate, dedicated people who are excited to build a game that is just as unique as they are.
We are a team that holds each other to a high standard while fostering a respectful and collaborative environment. We believe that we all benefit from the unique perspectives and skills of a diverse team, and that we become stronger developers when we can learn from one another. This is why we are looking for an Entry Level Programmer who is excited to collaborate and learn together.
About the role
As a Gameplay / UI Programmer, you will work closely in a fully remote environment with the art and design teams to implement and integrate UI screens and menus in Unity, while collaborating with the Technical Director to create and maintain robust gameplay solutions.
This a part-time contract position for entry level programmers. If you are a freelancer, are still in school (or just graduated), or have your own hustle on the side, this position may be for you. We are looking for someone who can follow code design conventions, independently solve problems, and fearlessly ask questions when stuck.
Due to the nature of our funding, we can only accept candidates who are legally eligible to work and currently resides in Canada. Unfortunately, we cannot make any exceptions.
