As a generalist you'll be called on to help out in a lot of places.

You'll need to be very comfortable with C++ and Unreal. Ideally you'd have experience with a variety of Unreal systems and an interest in learning new ones.

You'll also need to be fairly self-sufficient. You might have to dig pretty deeply into Unreal engine code to implement or fix something and there's a good chance nobody else on our team knows that part of the engine well enough to be of much help. It's OK if there are sizable areas of the engine you haven't explored yet but the idea of wading into large new systems and trying to figure out how they work should fill you with more excitement than dread (but a little dread is healthy).

Our new game is about interactions with urban wildlife and has gameplay that focuses on evoking a sense of life. We're trying to create moments that feel fleshy, surprising, and strange. A bit like this reference video but with more of a Jim Henson vibe.

What you'll do here

  • Misc features across a variety of systems
  • Tools and editor customization
  • Profiling and optimization
  • UI coding
  • Bug fixing

Must haves

  • Strong technical background in C++
  • 2+ years of professional experience with C++ in Unreal
  • Comfortable debugging large systems you didn't write
  • Able to work independently with minimal oversight

Nice to haves

  • Experience with any of the following Unreal systems: AI, Animation, Audio, Control Rig, Editor Customization, Navigation, Physics, Profiling, Sequencer, or UI
  • Experience with Python
  • An interest in science and biology

What Remains of Edith Finch is a collection of short stories about a cursed family in Washington State. Each story offers a chance to explore the life of a different family member and ends with their death. The goal is to create an experience that encourages players to feel humbled and astonished by the vast and unknowable world around us.

The Unfinished Swan is a game about exploring the unknown. The player is a young boy chasing after a swan who has wandered off into a surreal, unfinished kingdom. The game begins in a completely white space where players can throw paint to splatter their surroundings and reveal the world around them.
