About the Game
Bless You Again (BYA) is an anime-style roguelite action RPG built in Unreal Engine 5, following a magical girl who cannot permanently die inside a mysterious dungeon. The game has 44,000+ Steam wishlists, a fully voiced Japanese cast, and launches in 7 languages in early December 2026. Our public demo drops in early October — two weeks ahead of Steam Next Fest (October 19–26) — making October the single most important month of our entire campaign.
About the Role
We're a 9-person indie studio in Tokyo with an active Japanese fanbase. Now we need your help building our English-speaking community during the most important two months of our campaign.
What You'll Do
Your mission in one sentence: turn demo players into Discord members, and keep the fire burning from Next Fest all the way to launch.
- First project — redesign our server structure: your first deliverable will be a proposal for how our Discord should be organized: channel structure, whether/how to separate languages (our current community is mostly Japanese; you'll be building the English side), roles, onboarding flow, and moderation setup — so the server is ready to scale before the October demo drops
- Convert demo players into community members: design and run the funnel from the October demo into our Discord — in-demo calls to action, feedback events, demo-exclusive channels, whatever works. Discord growth during the demo window is your #1 KPI
- Own our Discord server day-to-day: welcome new members, spark conversations, run events (fan art contests, demo feedback threads, dev Q&As), and coordinate with our team on biweekly Dev Log posts
- Sustain momentum after Next Fest: the 5–6 weeks between Next Fest (October 19–26) and our early-December launch are where communities usually go quiet. Your job is to make sure ours doesn't — countdown events, community challenges, and steady beats that keep members engaged until launch day
- Represent BYA on Reddit authentically: identify the right subreddits, participate as a genuine community member, and share our demo/trailers in ways that respect each subreddit's culture and rules
- Report weekly: short async updates on Discord growth (especially demo→Discord conversion), engagement, and what's resonating
- Relay community feedback (bugs, feature requests, sentiment) to our dev team in a structured way
What We're Looking For
- Native or near-native English fluency
- Hands-on experience managing a game community Discord (please tell us which server(s) and what you did)
- An active, established Reddit account — we will ask for your username to review your karma and posting history. This matters more to us than a resume.
- Understanding of how indie games are promoted (and not promoted) on Reddit — you know the difference between community participation and spam
- Familiarity with anime games, roguelites, or action RPGs (bonus: you actually want to play our game)
- Comfortable working async with a Japanese team (no Japanese language skill required)
Nice to Have
- Japanese language skills (any level!) — not required at all, but a plus since our core team and existing community are Japanese
- Experience with a Steam Next Fest or game launch cycle
- Basic content creation skills (memes, clips, GIFs from gameplay footage)
- Experience moderating or growing a server from under 500 members
How to Apply
Send an email with:
- A short intro (a paragraph is fine — no cover letter needed)
- Links to Discord communities you've managed or moderated (and your role)
- Your Reddit username
- Your expected monthly rate, and your timezone / general availability for occasional calls with a JST-based team
- (Optional) One idea for how you'd promote an anime roguelite's demo on Reddit without getting banned
We review applications on a rolling basis and want someone starting in early September. We'll reply to everyone who includes items 1–4.
