We’re currently seeking Game Programmers/Developers for a short-term contract with an immediate/asap start date, to assist us with the development of Castle Doombad. This is a paid and remote position with flexible hours (either part-time or full-time available).

This position is a mix of both independent work and interfacing with other members of our team, both via Discord messaging and team meeting calls (typically occurring at least once a week). The initial contract duration is expected to be 2-3 months, with possibility of further work available upon completion. Pay is an hourly rate, to be negotiated based on experience.

Grumpyface Studios (that’s us!) is the developer of Steven Universe: Save the Light, Steven Universe: Unleash the Light, Teeny Titans, Teen Titans GO!: Figure, Castle Doombad, and more! We’re a small but close-knit team that loves games (of all types!) and creative collaboration is our jam.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • REQUIRED: Excellent knowledge of and experience using Unity
  • REQUIRED: Experience programming in C# on game projects
  • REQUIRED: Example of at least one finished game project, either personal or professional/commercial, that we can evaluate in some form. Please do not apply if you do not have a game project to show, and please specify your exact contributions to any non-solo projects.
  • REQUIRED: Comfortable working on wide range of programming tasks ranging from gameplay mechanics to menu/GUI/UX implementation
  • Experience extending the Unity editor to create custom inspectors, windows, tools, etc
  • Experience with Unity’s UI system
  • Experience with version control systems, primarily Git
  • Writes clean, readable, well formatted, well tested, and well commented code
  • Great communication and collaboration skills; ability to work closely with a team of other developers and comfortable taking and giving critique
  • Interested in being part of an energetic team that’s passionate about games and loves having fun on the job!

To Apply:

Send us an email with an introduction that tells us a little about you, a resume, and any related portfolio pieces/work samples. (Website links preferred for viewing portfolios.) For this position you MUST have a completed game project (either personal or commercial) for us to reference. Please also include your availability (including how soon you could start and how many hours a week you’re available), and also please note your experience level with relevant software.

PLEASE NOTE that due to volume of applicants, we are unable to reply to every inquiry, but we wish to thank you in advance for taking the time to apply! We will update this page and also make a post on our Twitter account once the position is filled.
