Focus: Player Abilities VFX
The role
- Author player ability/spell VFX, concept → optimized final
- Establish a semi-realistic style: grounded, weighty magic - not stylized/anime
- Build for scale: dozens of abilities firing at once in dense siege combat, without tanking frame rate
Responsibilities
- Author and extend ability/spell VFX
- Define + document a semi-realistic VFX style guide
- Integrate effects via Unity (VFX Graph / Shuriken, Shader Graph)
- Optimized effect budgets: particle counts, overdraw, draw calls, GPU/CPU particles, texture/atlas discipline
- Profile + optimize for many-player combat
- Tune timing/readability with design & engineering (cast, impact, status tells)
- Test VFX in our editor tooling
Required
- Senior VFX experience, shipped/substantial real-time projects
- Strong Unity: VFX Graph and/or Shuriken, Shader Graph
- Portfolio showing semi-realistic style (grounded combat magic)
- Proven highly optimized VFX, ideally multiplayer/perf-constrained
- Self-directed, Can test, Builds modular and reusable effects
Nice to have
- MMO / large-scale PvP / RTS combat VFX
- Experience setting team VFX standards
