Your Role

There's a lot of work still to be done on the game, and we're looking for someone who can handle two main categories of work: level design, and generalist grunt work.

Level Design:

The game does involve discrete levels that will need to be balanced and iterated on, as many are relatively fresh after reworks.

The open world area needs tons of skate parks designed and added. Right now, it's quite barren. These then also need challenges added to them. The majority of the level design work is expected to be here, effectively in designing skate parks.

Generalist:

I'm not going to sugar coat it, there's a lot of unglamorous work like wiring up particle effects an artist made in blender in the engine, placing cutscene triggers, and wiring up animations, and that will fall to you. Expect a lot of time doing repetitive tasks we haven't gotten around to.

The position is on a contract basis, and is estimated to be 3-6 months of work. You set your own hours; we don't have core hours or a company time zone. This position will likely start around the end of September.

What we're looking for

  • Experience skateboarding, ideally in both real life and games - this is critical!
  • Level design experience - game jams and mods count! This is a junior level position and while past shipped titles are a bonus, they are not required.
  • Experience working with Godot
  • Prior contracting experience in any role/industry
  • Someone happy to organize and get the details right

What we're NOT looking for

  • You do not need to know how to code, although enough proficiency to, say, wire in a sound effect to existing code is a bonus
  • AI use is strictly prohibited on any content that makes it into the game

Applying

To apply, send an email with a subject line containing "Level Designer". Please also include:

  • A link to your portfolio, including past work on level design specifically
  • Your preferred payment structure and rates (hourly, monthly, etc) and any specific contract requirements
  • Your country and timezone
  • Any other information you'd like us to know
