OMG Studios is an established indie studio based in the United States but working remotely across the world. We’ve been in the industry for many years. We’re professional and hard-working, but also friendly and flexible.
We’re finishing up a commercial title, but we’re also currently working on a few prototypes we may take forward next year, and that’s where you come in.
We’re currently working on a top-down, 3D horror game prototype which requires someone with expertise in animating weird, horrific, unpleasant creatures.
We’ve got work on humanoids including the main character to do, but we’ve also got a lot of creatures where the animation has to be part of the horror, and that’s where you come in.
Responsibilities:
- Creating high-quality hand-keyed animations for humanoid characters, animals
- Combat, movement, reaction and enemy specific animations for both humanoid and non-humanoid creatures.
- Preparing animations for import into Unity
- Fixing skinning, rigging, weights and deformation with any existing assets
- Preparing meshes for rigging and animation
- Optimisation of characters and animation for real-world use
- Helping the team make key decisions on animation style, scenes and the overall look of the project
- Working directly with a designer and producer, communicating daily on progress
- Participate in iterations and integrate feedback regularly via Discord and Jira
What You’ll Bring:
We’re looking for someone who is both an amazing animator and strong communicator that wants to really show the world what they can do. You can work anywhere where you can be legally employed by a USA studio, but USA or Europe is preferred, and you must be fluent or native in English and be able to be paid via bank transfer from a US bank.
- First and foremost - A diverse online portfolio of ANIMATION
- Experience as a 3D animator across multiple styles, but horror and non-humanoid animation experience is a huge bonus
- Strong, demonstrable understanding of anatomy, weight, timing posing and movement
- Clear communication and the ability to take direction and feedback
- Initiative with a genuine passion for creating art and video games
Bonus:
- More general games art experience in 2D or 3D
- A general love for horror, the more unique the better
- An understanding of the difference between productive AI use in tools and AI generated art
