About the Project:

We are building an ambitious digital card game as a first title to our indie game studio. We need a dedicated illustrator for producing characters and items on the card art themselves. This role requires an illustrator with a unique focus on character design who is also comfortable illustrating horror/dark fantasy themes.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating card art for the project: Creating the entire card art for all the cards in our game. We have a budget set aside per card. You manage to stay within that budget and can deliver a good final product that we can use in game.
  • Work within the existing art direction: You can stay within specific art direction guidelines for all of the cards. You strive to create consistency between all of the cards and you make sure that nothing looks out of place. You can also take the current art direction for the cards and elevate it when needed.

Skills:

  • Illustration, you are proficient with illustrating things digitally and can adapt to the style that the project requires.
  • Character Design. You understand how to make compelling characters in their expression, pose and silhouette. You also understand anatomical proportions and can draw anatomically correct characters. You can also use that knowledge to distort or exaggerate when needed.
  • Good communicator. When things don’t align, you know how to work around the challenges. You strive to find the necessary solutions to the problem and you know how to express them
  • No AI. You can work without the use of Generative AI to produce the illustrations. You are the real deal. You know how to design, plan and illustrate characters from start to finish using your hard earned illustration skills accumulated through practice, reflection and experience. This is an absolute must. We will not consider applicants who use generative AI and/or lie about their methods of production.

Nice to have:

  • Interest in horror or dark fantasy as a genre whether you read manga, play games, watch horror movies. All of this is a plus!
  • Plays board games, digital card games or TCGs. If you enjoy playing card games, we are excited to hear about it!
  • You like balkan horror stories

How to Apply:

If you meet these requirements we want to hear from you regardless of your background or education. We will require every applicant to submit their art portfolio. Disclaimer: We are a small studio in its infancy so we don’t have the resources to respond to every applicant. If you are a good fit, we will get in touch.
