Job Description: Unreal Programmer

Skymap is seeking an Unreal Programmer to work on game optimization and performance for an Unreal title. The Programmer will work directly with the development team to identify bottlenecks, implement performance improvements, and ensure the game meets performance benchmarks across target platforms. Network multiplayer experience is essential, as the role involves optimizing and maintaining online multiplayer systems. We are looking for someone autonomous with a strong understanding of game performance budgets who can proactively drive optimization efforts.

This position is a long-term temporary position.

 

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality game software using C++, C#, or similar languages.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate gameplay features and optimize performance.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in gameplay systems, rendering, physics, and AI.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Participate in code reviews, contributing to best practices and continuous improvement.

 

Requirements

Qualifications

  • 3+ years as a Programmer in the games industry, working with Unreal Engine.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ with a deep understanding of Unreal Engine internals.
  • Hands-on experience designing and optimizing network multiplayer systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in game performance optimization (CPU, GPU, memory, and network).
  • Shipped at least one large game title across both PC and Console.
  • Familiarity with server architecture and online backend servers
  • Experience with profiling tools such as Unreal Insights, RenderDoc, PIX, or equivalent.
  • A passion for video games

Pluses

  • Experience working on a multi-SKU project.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
