Position: Game Developer - UI / Front-End Focus
Company: Skytear Games
Location: Remote
Type: Full-time, Freelance / contractor engagement
Level: Experienced
We’re looking for an experienced Game Developer to help us build the digital side of Skytear Games.
This role is mainly focused on the front-end of videogames: UI layouts, menus, screens, user flows, visual feedback, in-game interfaces, and all the small details that make a game feel smooth, clear, and satisfying to play.
But we are a small, dynamic team, so we are not looking for someone who only stays inside one box.
The ideal person is also comfortable working on gameplay logic, game systems, and engine-side coding when needed. Flexibility matters a lot here: one day you may be wiring a screen, the next day improving a game flow, fixing a logic issue, polishing a visual effect, or helping us make a prototype actually playable.
What you’ll do
You will work on the development of videogames connected to our worlds, products, and ideas.
Your work may include:
- Implementing game UI screens, menus, HUDs, layouts, popups, flows, and interaction states.
- Wiring together UI and game logic so that screens are not just pretty, but functional, responsive, and easy to use.
- Improving the player experience through clear feedback, transitions, animations, and small quality-of-life details.
- Working on gameplay systems and game logic, including rules, state management, interactions, and internal tools.
- Collaborating with designers, artists, and other developers to turn concepts into playable features.
- Helping prototype, test, polish, and iterate quickly.
- Contributing ideas, spotting problems, and taking ownership of features from rough brief to working implementation.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for someone who has:
- Actively worked on the development of at least 2-3 videogames.
- Strong experience with front-end game development, UI implementation, screen wiring, and player-facing systems.
- Solid coding skills and the ability to work also on gameplay / engine logic, not only presentation.
- A flexible mindset: comfortable switching between UI, gameplay, debugging, prototyping, and polishing.
- Good taste for usability, clarity, layout, visual hierarchy, and player feedback.
- The ability to work independently in a remote team, communicate clearly, and move things forward without needing constant supervision.
- Fluent English, good enough to speak in team calls, read and write specifications, and discuss technical or design decisions.
Bonus points
These are not mandatory, but we’ll be very happy if you have them:
- Experience with Godot.
- Experience creating or implementing VFX, visual feedback, particles, shaders, or juicy game-feel effects.
- Experience developing mobile apps for iOS and Android.
- Experience developing web apps or browser-based games.
- Previous work on strategy games, card games, board-game adaptations, tactics games, roguelikes, or systems-heavy games.
- A strong personal passion for videogames - not just as a developer, but as a player.
Who you are
You are probably a good fit if you enjoy small teams, fast iteration, and practical problem solving.
You don’t need a huge structure around you to be productive. You like taking a feature, understanding what the player needs, and making it work. You care about whether a button feels right, whether a screen is readable, whether the feedback is clear, and whether the underlying logic is solid.
You are not afraid to say, “I can handle that,” even when the task is slightly outside your usual lane.
Most importantly, you love games and understand them from the inside: the feel, the flow, the frustration, the satisfaction, the little things that make players want to continue.
The practical stuff
- Full-time
- Starts with a 4-week paid trial period
- Fully remote, flexible hours - at least 4 hours of daily overlap with EU time zones
- Freelance / contractor engagement
