As a Shader Artist at Spiderling Studios, you will be responsible for creating and optimising shaders for characters, environments, and visual effects, ensuring a balance between visual quality and performance. You will be working on a brand new title, contributing to its unique visual style and technical innovation. This role offers a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension, a fully paid trial month, and the flexibility of working remotely.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and optimise shaders for characters, environments, and visual effects.
  • Work closely with the team to understand visual and technical requirements.
  • Optimise shaders for a balance between visual quality and performance.
  • Document shader code and development processes for future reference.
  • Identify and resolve visual and technical issues related to shaders.

 

Requirements

We’re looking for a person with experience in

  • Unity development
  • Shader programming (fragment, vertex, geometry and compute shaders)
  • Post-processing techniques
  • Raymarching and raytracing
  • Advanced lighting effects, including global illumination, ambient occlusion, and reflections
  • Volumetric effects, such as clouds, explosions, and fire

Nice to have

  • Artistic eye
  • Experience with GPU physics simulations (particles, fluids, position based dynamics)
  • Experience with voxel rendering

 

More Information

  • 6 months contract (can be extended), 1 fully paid trial month
  • Fully Remote (preferably on a time zone near GMT) 
  • Potential start time right away
