The Game Band is seeking an experienced UI/UX Designer to play a crucial role in shaping our upcoming game. As a UI/UX Designer, you will contribute to defining the interface and user experience on multiple platforms. UI/UX design will be integral to this project, and you will collaborate with game designers, artists, and engineers to make it a seamless part of our world.
As a UI/UX Designer you will
- Help define and hold the vision for the game’s overarching UI/UX paradigms
- Produce wireframes for various gameplay features and systems
- Define and design high fidelity UI styles and that aligns with the art direction
- Partake in creating and maintaining a UI component system that can adapt to content changes over time
- Adapt existing flows into new formats that reflect live changes, new features, and accessibility updates
- Define animation guidelines for how various UIs transition between states and screens
- Help define and execute a balance between the ever-evolving live aspects of the game and a more static, comprehensive on-boarding process for new users
- Be involved directly with future planning for new platforms
- Create and maintain presentations and documents that communicate your designs internal and external partners
What success as a UI/UX Designer looks like
- The game UI/UX has a strong underlying philosophy with rules and systems that can be extended for new features
- Our prototyping velocity increases as you free up game designers to focus on mechanics and systems
- Your documentation is easy to update, flexible, and can be followed by everyone on the team
- You can speak to how the UI/UX is directly tied to the design of the game
- You feel equipped to speak to all departments about how to incorporate proposed ideas and are comfortable pushing back when something feels out of scope
- You can communicate when a change is an aesthetic choice and when it is a necessity for improved user experience
- You can enable players to quickly understand game mechanics without much instruction
Requirements
- A passion for and in-depth knowledge of UI and UX design, with the ability to articulate concepts effectively
- Profound understanding of visual hierarchy, layout design, and usability principles
- A keen interest in making high fidelity UIs that delight players
- A passion for product design that extends beyonds video games
- Knowledge of games as a wider interactive medium
- Strong Figma expertise
Nice to Haves
- Experience in UI/UX design for live service games
- Experience with Unity
- Experience working in a rapid prototyping/preproduction environment
- Experience working on a wide variety of platforms, from PC to mobile
- Motion graphics experience
- Experience with UI implementation in game engines
- Familiarity with accessibility design and its implementation in video games
