Turn Me Up is looking for a creative and dedicated UI Artist with proven game industry experience, specializing in graphic design. This position will collaborate with Turn Me Up’s designers, artists, and engineers to create, polish, and implement in-game visuals, UI, and other graphic assets.

We are looking for someone who wants to lead the charge on ideas, further developing our stylization, and making the experience of our internal project something that feels unique.

NOTE: This position can be remote, but candidates that are eventually able to work in our office in Burbank, California are heavily preferred.

NOTE: This posting is open to either contract or full time.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with engineers, artists, and designers to develop and integrate UI for internal & external creative projects
  • Contribute to the artistic direction of the UI art style through concept exploration, creating UI mockups based on designs for game mechanics and features
  • Implement, animate, and maintain UI screens in Unreal 5 and set up functionality with Blueprints
  • Create 2D supporting graphics such as icons which communicate key information and help illustrate the game's interface
  • Actively participate in the creation and implementation of design systems, game menus, HUD elements, Iconography, UI materials and shaders, UI animation, and motion design
  • Advance the capabilities and efficiencies of UI design and implementation
  • Collaborate, give feedback, and provide direction to partner studios and external teams
  • Contribute to the documentation of team institutional knowledge
  • Update the company website and video reel with new game releases
  • Execute on deliverables to a high quality bar, work autonomously, tackling medium to complex tasks
  • Review, refine, and reshape content in-game in the pursuit of improved user experience

 

What we're looking for

  • Ideal candidates will possess both creative and technical skills, demonstrate strong 2D illustration abilities, have experience in UI art, wireframing, graphic design, and game engine integration, and show a passion for quality UX
  • Strong User Experience knowledge with wireframing experience
  • Professional experience with game engine integration
  • High proficiency in Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Figma, and Adobe Illustrator or similar tools
  • Strong background in motion graphics and animation fundamentals
  • Ability to rapidly prototype designs in a variety of visual styles
  • Team player with a great attitude & love for video games
  • Proficiency with video editing and Wix website editing
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others on project goals, internally and externally
  • Strong communication skills; positive and independent worker, always working to inspire those around you
  • Proven ability to take action on feedback; seeking guidance and external resources to expand knowledge
  • Ability to iterate on production needs with flexibility of urgent tasks; with an understanding of how to create personal tasks
  • Up to date with industry trends, letting it influence innovative ideas and solutions
  • Game industry experience building UI experiences on multiple gaming platforms is a plus (mobile, PC, consoles)

 

Software Knowledge Requirements:

  • Adobe Suite, Figma, and/or comparable software
  • Unreal Engine

 

Application Requirements:

  • Portfolio demonstrating relevant skills and past work
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design (or related field) or 3+ years experience
  • Ability to work on-site in Burbank, CA is a plus
