Uni Dreams is a new game studio on a mission to create an incredible 2.5D platformer that will captivate players around the globe. Led by a team of experienced industry veterans and bold creatives, we pride ourselves on our non-corporate, collaborative culture—where big ideas thrive, and every voice is valued. We’re building our first major title and are excited to bring on talented developers who want to help shape our vision.
About the Role
As a Level Designer (Contract), you’ll harness your creativity and technical know-how to craft engaging, high-quality levels in Unity 6. You’ll take ownership of key features—writing up specs, championing prototypes, and working closely with game design, code, art, and project management to see them through to implementation. If you’re passionate about building fun, immersive 2.5D experiences and love collaborating with a fully remote team, we’d love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Build Engaging Block-Outs: Use your creativity to design and prototype levels that leverage core gameplay mechanics and player abilities.
- Own Key Features: Define level design features in clear spec documents, prototype them, and ensure successful implementation across disciplines.
- Document Thoroughly: Record all level design features, metrics, and updates in Confluence for transparent team communication.
- Iterate Rapidly: Incorporate feedback from playtests and team reviews to refine block-outs and improve pacing, difficulty balancing, and overall fun factor.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with art, code, and project management to deliver cohesive, visually striking, and technically sound level designs.
Qualifications
- Unity 6.0 Experience: Confident working in—or quickly adapting to—Unity 6, especially for 2.5D projects.
- 2.5D Platformer Know-How: Proven experience designing side-scrolling or platforming levels, with a solid understanding of player flow and pacing.
- Remote-Ready: Comfortable working fully remotely and communicating effectively with a distributed team.
- Rapid Iteration Skills: Ability to take design feedback and quickly transform it into improved gameplay experiences.
Bonus Points
- Basic C# Scripting Skills: Helpful for prototyping and minor adjustments (not essential).
- Modular Level Design Knowledge: Familiarity with creating and reusing modular assets.
