Guided by industry veterans and a culture of open collaboration, we fuse amazing art with polished gameplay to create immersive, unforgettable experiences. If you have a knack for bridging the worlds of art and tech, we’d love to meet you!
About the Role
As a Technical Designer at Uni Dreams, you’ll work closely with our art and programming teams to manage, optimize, and package large art assets for release. This role is perfect for someone equally comfortable diving into Unity’s technical details and collaborating on creative pipeline solutions. Your work will help ensure we deliver efficient, visually cohesive builds that maintain our high standards for performance and artistry.
Responsibilities
- Asset Management & Compression: Optimize large texture files, ensuring minimal performance impact without compromising visual quality.
- Art Pipeline Coordination: Define and maintain guidelines for asset creation, import settings, and version control, collaborating with artists and programmers.
- Release Build Prep: Partner with our release engineer to properly package assets, troubleshoot issues, and deliver stable builds for playtests and final release.
- Due Diligence & Quality Control: Monitor asset deployment to confirm everything is correctly integrated, minimizing errors and inconsistencies.
- Unity Integration: Leverage Unity (preferably Unity 6) to manage lighting, scene setups, and advanced camera systems (Cinemachine), ensuring a polished end-user experience.
- Technical Problem-Solving: Address performance bottlenecks, propose workflow improvements, and iterate swiftly based on team feedback.
- Shader & Lighting Exploration (Bonus): If you have the expertise, write or modify shaders and experiment with lighting systems to enhance our game’s artistic flair.
Key Skills
- Unity Expertise: Comfortable with Unity’s pipeline, lighting workflows, and tools like Cinemachine
- Compression & Optimization: Familiar with image formats, texture compression techniques, and best practices for large asset handling
- Scripting Background: Bonus if you can handle basic C# coding for pipeline automation or tool development within Unity
- Art & Tech Fusion: Ability to communicate effectively with both artists and engineers, balancing visual style with performance constraints
- Release Management: Experience preparing deployable builds, packaging assets, and ensuring smooth handoff to QA or publishing teams
- Asset Pipeline & Version Control: Knowledge of professional workflows (e.g., Git, Perforce) and best practices for stylized or 2D/2.5D assets
- Shader & Lighting (Bonus): Familiarity with writing shaders (HLSL/Shader Graph) and using Unity’s lighting systems to boost visual fidelity
- Collaboration & Communication: Strong teamwork and organizational skills; can clearly document processes and coordinate with multiple disciplines
