About the Role
As a Texture Artist (Contract) at Uni Dreams, you’ll focus on painting and refining textures for pre-modeled assets—both stylized and pre-modeled assets — using tools like Substance Painter and Photoshop. You’ll work closely with our Creative Director and art leads to ensure each model is on-brand, maintaining consistent visual direction and style. If you have a passion for comic-book-style line work and hand-drawn textures reminiscent of Borderlands, we’d love to see what you can do.
Responsibilities
- Texture Creation: Apply high-quality textures to provided, UV-unwrapped 3D models using Substance Painter or Designer (highly desirable).
- Style Consistency: Adhere to established guidelines, collaborating frequently with art leadership to achieve a cohesive, comic-inspired aesthetic.
- Software Proficiency: Use Photoshop and other relevant tools to refine details and ensure top-notch final results.
- Process & Pipelines: Demonstrate knowledge of professional workflows, including baking, retopology, and optimization best practices.
- Remote Collaboration: Communicate effectively with other disciplines—level design, art, tech, and project management—to align on asset delivery and milestones.
- Exploration & Innovation: Experiment with stylized, hand-painted textures or line-art techniques to inject personality into our 2.5D Metroidvania world.
Qualifications
- Substance Expertise: Strong experience with Substance Painter and/or Designer; proficiency in other texturing tools.
- Texturing Background: Demonstrable ability to create varied, high-quality textures for 3D assets in a game pipeline.
- Comic-Style & Hand-Drawn: Work as an illustrator is a desired. Familiarity with line-art or Borderlands-inspired aesthetics is a big plus
- Remote-Ready: Comfortable working fully remotely, staying proactive and communicative in a distributed setting.
- Role can be expanded if you can do: 3D Modeling.
