We’re looking for a contractor to support development as needed and fill gaps in our lineup. Assignments will primarily relate to game AI and performance optimizations. You’ll work closely with our lead designer to develop gameplay concepts into technical requirements and turn ideas into reality. Having prior expertise in rendering would be considered a bonus, but is not required.
Responsibilities
- AI Development: Develop complex AI behaviors for player characters, enemies, animals, etc. and performant pathfinding algorithms that can navigate across a dynamic environment.
- Architecture Design: Work with our tech lead to ensure robust software architecture and best practices for a stable code base.
- Performance Optimization: Diagnose and resolve performance issues to ensure a smooth gameplay experience.
- Engine Maintenance: Maintain our compiler base and assist gameplay programmers by adjusting the C++ source.
- Remote Collaboration: Stay in sync with remote teammates by maintaining regular communication and coordination with the project lead.
- [Optional] Rendering: Create shaders and visual effects to realize art targets in a 3D environment.
Requirements
- Programming Skills: Experience working with C#, C++ (including compiling C++ projects from source).
- Seasoned Developer: 5+ years of making games, prior work with Godot Engine.
- Design Proficiency: Intimate knowledge of software design principles and best practices.
- AI Expertise: Prior experience working with complex AI behaviors and pathing algorithms.
- Remote-Ready: Ability to work remotely as part of an international team and communicate with our team lead during normal business hours (Berlin Time).
- [Optional] Rendering Expertise: Familiarity with common 3D rendering techniques and animation systems.
