We Love Every Game's goal is to ensure that indie games receive the attention they deserve. We're a tiny team founded by a long-time indie who also worked at Valve to improve game discovery on Steam. We want to connect gamers with their next favorite game by covering them via Web, video, newsletters, and more.
The Role:
We're seeking an outgoing, creative individual to manage our social media presence, engage with our community, and foster relationships with streamers and developers. We want you to help get the word out and make connections! This is a remote, part-time (~10h/wk) role, with room to grow.
Responsibilities:
- Social Media Management: Develop organic social media campaigns (Twitter, Reddit, etc.); craft compelling posts; participate in discussions; and monitor and respond to community interactions, concerns, and feedback.
- Community Building: Grow and moderate our Discord/Discourse servers and subreddits, while creating blog content to highlight what we're up to.
- Outreach and Relationship Building: Identify and reach out to relevant game streamers (particularly those focusing on indie and niche titles) and engage with game devs to help promote their titles.
- Advertising Strategy: Help create and manage targeted social media advertising campaigns (e.g., promoted Reddit posts).
- Innovation and Growth: Propose and implement creative ideas to expand our reach and engage our audience.
Examples of Day-to-Day Work:
- Streamer Outreach: Let's say we've created a "horror games of Steam guide." You might help identify PC horror game streamers, draft personalized outreach emails, and reach out to them to let them know about it. Down the line, you might work with them to create custom game guides for them and their audiences.
- Reddit Outreach: We might do a video series on Steam Deck games. You'd identify appropriate subreddits and make engaging posts about those titles. In some cases, you'd help us put together promoted post campaigns to maximize visibility of our guides.
- Discord Growth: You'd help develop a strategy to transform our nascent Discord into a thriving community hub for indie game enthusiasts and execute on that by engaging with users and running events.
- Developer Outreach: We have a weekly newsletter—you might identify appropriate developers and contact them if they'd like to do interviews or stick easter eggs in the mailings.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in social media marketing and community management (professional or significant hobbyist experience)
- Deep knowledge of Steam and the indie game ecosystem
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team, during EST work hours
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience working directly with game streamers or influencers
- Experience with paid social media advertising (Reddit, Twitter, TikTok)
- Agency background in marketing, communications, or public relations
- Experience working on shipped games
- A track record of successful grassroots marketing or community-building initiatives
More About Us:
You'd be working with our founder, Ichiro Lambe, a 30 year game developer veteran whose games have won various awards, but whose greatest achievement is now that one of his games was referenced in last week's XKCD comic (see 1-Down).
Notes about AI Writing:
We're fine with folks using LLMs to ideate and edit, so long as you don't ask ChatGPT to write posts for you and use those verbatim. We're looking for someone who has their own distinct voice.
