Located in the Mile-End in Montreal, Wild Blueberry Games is an independent video game studio focused on new technologies. We are currently working on a 4X strategy game called 7Nations (code name).
We are looking for a senior programmer to lead our technical team and execute our projects. We are actively working with GenAI pipelines to reimagine the game development and content creation process. If you are interested in new technologies and technical challenges, this is the place for you.
Wild Blueberry Games is part of The Asylum, an incubator for independent studios that comprises just over 200 developers in total.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and understand game design documents to define required features and gameplay systems that need to be developed within the engine. Analyze existing features in the engine to determine if they align with the project's goals and, if necessary, define how to adapt them to better meet the game's needs.
- Anticipate potential game design changes and ensure that the implementation of gameplay systems can easily accommodate these changes.
- Propose improvements by designing and implementing new systems or modifying existing ones.
- Collaborate with programmers from other disciplines, game designers, level designers, and animators to discuss constraints and define the technical possibilities of various gameplay features.
- Ensure that the implementation of controls and gameplay systems successfully delivers the experience envisioned by the game design team.
- Work with other departments to develop the necessary tools to allow them to make efficient gameplay adjustments.
- Support the gameplay features and systems designed for production.
Prerequisites
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of experience in video game programming.
- Mastery of a game engine (Unity, Unreal, or a proprietary engine).
- Enjoy working in a team.
- Be motivated, curious, and passionate about technology.
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills in French.
Assets
- Strong C++ skills are an asset.
- Strong C# skills are an asset.
- Fluency in English;
- The candidate must be based in Montreal, ready to work from our Montreal studios (Mile-End) and available full time.
- The person does not need a permit to work in Canada.
