Founded by two experienced software developers with over 12 years of combined industry experience at companies like Google and Amazon, we're currently developing our debut title, Aaru: Fields of Eternity.

 

Project

Aaru: Fields of Eternity is a relaxing single-player survival and crafting game set in Ancient Egypt. Farm the fertile Nile, restore ancient obelisks, explore vast deserts, mine precious metals, and trade with the locals as you regain your lost memories and uncover the mysteries of the afterlife.

Drawing inspiration from titles like Dinkum, Valheim, and Stardew Valley, we're creating a unique adventure in the Egyptian afterlife. Our procedurally generated world combines cozy base-building mechanics with the mystique and wonder of Ancient Egyptian mythology.

Our game features a distinctive art direction that reimagines pyramids, obelisks, and Egyptian mythology through a stylized aesthetic.

 

Overview

We’re seeking a skilled 3D Animator to join our indie team on Aaru: Fields of Eternity, a relaxing single-player survival and crafting game set in a fantastical Ancient Egyptian afterlife. You’ll bring to life a wide range of expressive characters and creatures – from Egyptian gods to flamingos and crocodiles.

 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in 3D animation for games, with a portfolio showcasing stylized character and creature animation.
  • Must use Blender and be comfortable working within existing .blend files and collaborative pipelines.
  • Experience rigging and animating bipeds, quadrupeds, and non-humanoid creatures (e.g. birds, reptiles, insects).
  • Strong understanding of animation principles, timing, and movement for both humanoid and animal locomotion.
  • Familiarity with game development workflows and real-time implementation.
  • Ability to create game-ready rigs optimized for clean export and integration.
  • Comfortable working with constraints of production pipelines and collaborating with technical teams.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to iterate based on feedback and gameplay needs.

 

Bonus Points

  • Previous work animating stylized creatures or wildlife in games.
  • Familiarity with Git or other version control tools for collaborating on game projects.
  • Experience creating VFX or enhancing animations with visual effects.
  • Familiarity with animating props or environmental elements (e.g. a spinning pottery wheel).

 

Deliverables

  • Rig and animate a variety of characters, creatures, and environmental props.
  • Maintain consistent style and quality across all animations, in line with the game’s tone and art direction.
  • Collaborate closely with 3D artists and engineers to ensure smooth integration into gameplay.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize rigs/animations for in-engine compatibility (Bevy + GLTF workflows).
