Job Description

We are seeking a talented and experienced 3D Animator freelancer to join our dynamic team. As a 3D Animator, you will be responsible for making animations / character rigs for our 3D AI games!

This contract role will be set for 6 months to 1 year, with the possibility of extension at the end of the contract. 30 hours or more per week may be required for this position. 

Job Responsibilities

As a 3D Animator, your key responsibilities will include:

• Animate a diverse range of characters, including humanoids and creatures with unique features such as wings and tails.
• Design character-specific animation cycles, contributing to their personality and the game's overall artistic vision.
• Create and implement in-game cinematic animations, manage camera angles and shots, and incorporate feedback from the creative team while enjoying a degree of creative autonomy.
• Set-up animations and cameras in-engine, as well as troubleshoot any technical difficulties with importation.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

• A portfolio or show-reel demonstrating your animation work.
• Familiarity with Unity, and Maya is preferred.
• Proficient understanding of the animation production pipeline in Unity, including but not limited to the Animator, Timeline, Cinemachine, and Blend Trees. Candidates should possess the ability to create and implement animations directly within Unity, showcasing a seamless blend of technical skill and creativity.
• Be able to clean up animations from Mo-cap data & files generated by AI Powered Animation Clips such as Plask.ai.
• Proficiency in animation principles, showcasing skills in posing, timing, and conveying weight in movement.
• Experience in crafting animation cycles, dynamic poses, acting sequences.
• A collaborative attitude with experience incorporating team feedback.

Additional Desired Skills/Experience:

• Rig and skin various characters and props, ensuring compatibility with in-game mechanics in collaboration with the 3D Artist and Programmer.
• Prior experience in the game industry, whether indie or AAA.
• Experience working on mobile games
• Skills in VFX animation, especially Unity Particle System.
• Passion for AI, sci-fi, anime, escape room games, or horror games.
