Pixile Studios is the indie team behind Super Animal Royale, and we’re looking for a skilled Unity VFX artist to join our team on a contract, part-time basis, with the possibility to expand to full time.
Our team is united by our love of animals, multiplayer games, and commitment to polish and pushing creative boundaries everywhere we can to surprise and delight our players. As a team we value transparency, growth, perfecting our crafts creatively and having fun (we’re making a game after all). Our team operates fully remotely, allowing us to work with talented individuals from any timezone, although our founders are based in Vancouver, Canada.
The artist will be responsible for creating and implementing visual effects for Super Animal Royale (which is built in Unity 2019.4). This may include effects for explosions, guns, water, and other dynamic interactions that match the game’s distinctive 2D, flat art style. We’re looking for someone as passionate as we are about making this game and elevating its style and level of creativity and polish at every available opportunity. Pixile was founded in 2011 by Michael Silverwood and Chris Clogg to create multiplayer games that expand the boundaries of their genres in fun and unique ways. Stratosphere turned tower defense into a competitive multiplayer experience, playable 1v1 on a single iPad. Super Animal Royale, in development since October 2017, takes a whole new perspective on the battle royale genre.
The Pixile team is spread out between Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia, but is united by their love of games, art and animals.
Super Animal Royale is a frenetic top-down 2D twist on the battle royale genre. Up to 64 adorably murderous animals fight fight tooth, claw, and machine gun across the varied landscape of an abandoned safari park, each vying to be top dog (or cat, or sloth...). To reach the top of the food chain, players must master an intuitive fog-of-war system and a quirky menagerie of weapons.
