We have an exciting opportunity for a talented, motivated Character Art Outsourcing Supervisor to help drive character art production for a new stylized fantasy IP! Reporting to the Lead Art Outsourcing Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in managing the character art pipeline and overseeing external character art production. You will act as the primary point of contact between internal teams and external partners for character art, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality assets that align with the artistic vision and technical requirements. This position is ideal for an artist with strong character art expertise, excellent communication skills, and a passion for building creative relationships.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the character art outsourcing process, ensuring communication clarity and asset quality with external studios and artists.
- Serve as the main point of contact for all character art outsourcing activities, fostering strong creative and technical alignment between teams.
- Create and maintain documentation, visual references, and style guides to support external vendors in producing high-quality character assets.
- Review and provide detailed feedback on all incoming character art assets to ensure alignment with the project’s artistic and technical standards.
- Collaborate with the Lead Art Outsourcing Supervisor, Character Art Director, and production teams to define character art outsourcing needs, pipelines, and schedules.
- Track character art asset progress, ensuring timely delivery and proper integration into the project pipeline.
- Assist in onboarding and managing external artists by sharing technical requirements and assigning tasks based on skill sets.
- Support the development of innovative workflows and ensure character art assets maintain consistency with the fantasy genre’s style and quality expectations.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a character artist in game development, with strong knowledge of 3D art production pipelines.
- Experience working with external art teams or vendors.
- Strong understanding of the character art creation process, including modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation readiness.
- Keen eye for anatomy, proportions, and style, with a commitment to delivering character assets that meet the project’s artistic vision.
- Organized and detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Passion for stylized fantasy games and visual storytelling.
- Experience as a character lead or supervising external art teams
Pluses
- Experience as a character lead or supervising external art teams.
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine workflows for character integration.
- Understanding of Unreal Engine
