The Game Band is looking for a Senior UI/UX Designer to create intuitive, expressive interfaces for our games. If you’re passionate about crafting elegant designs that help players understand what matters most—we want to hear from you.

As a Senior UI/UX Designer, You Will

  • Be a core part of the entire UX and UI design process—from early wireframes to final implementation
  • Translate complex game systems into clear, accessible, and visually appealing flows and interfaces.
  • Collaborate closely with design, engineering, and art teams to ensure UI supports gameplay goals.
  • Establish and maintain UI/UX style guides, patterns, and best practices across the project.
  • Drive usability testing and iterate based on player feedback and data insights.
  • Mentor other designers and help shape a strong design culture within the team.
  • Champion accessibility and player-centered thinking at every step of the development process.

Requirements

  • Experience as a senior or lead UI/UX designer on at least one shipped mobile game or app.
  • A portfolio demonstrating strong visual design, user flows, and mobile UX strategy.
  • Deep knowledge of mobile-first design principles, including touch ergonomics, responsiveness, and platform guidelines.
  • Proficiency in Figma.
  • Experience working directly with engineers and shipping UI in a game engine (ideally Unity).
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, systems-oriented mindset.

Nice to Haves

  • Motion design or animation skills.
  • Familiarity with live service games, social features, or in-game economies.
  • Experience designing for cross-platform experiences (mobile, web, desktop).
  • A passion for games that push boundaries in form, audience, or interaction.

We know that great talent comes from all backgrounds, so if this sounds exciting but you don’t check every box, reach out anyway. We’d love to hear from you.

About
The Game Band

Since our inception in 2015, we have dedicated ourselves to broadening the video game audience by crafting stories across unconventional genres, mechanics, and gameplay styles.

Our first two games, “Where Cards Fall” and “Blaseball”, received widespread acclaim and captured the hearts of players. Just as our favorite bands continually reinvent their sound, we hope to always surprise you with what comes next.

Benefits

  • Health coverage. We cover 99% of employee premiums and 50% of premiums for dependents for medical, dental and vision insurance.
  • Paid time off. 15 days of PTO annually – 10 vacation days and 5 flex days
  • Personal comfort. Stipend for office setup, coworking space, and even video games
  • 401k plan
  • Remote friendly

Dead Man’s Party: A Knives Out Game blends our theatrical flair with party game chaos. The story is shaped by your instincts, your performances, and the strange little truths that emerge when you play pretend.

Where Cards Fall is a slice of life puzzle game where you build houses of cards to bring formative memories to life. Create pathways through dreamlike spatial puzzles to navigate the insecurities and emotions of high school and beyond.

Blaseball is an absurdist, player-driven, corruptible, online game of baseball. It’s a simplistic simulation of a sport, built in the void of real sports, where players can view, bet on, and contort the league.
