About Us

Founded by two experienced software developers with over 12 years of combined industry experience at companies like Google and Amazon, we're currently developing our debut title, Aaru: Fields of Eternity.

Project

Aaru: Fields of Eternity is a relaxing single-player survival and crafting game set in Ancient Egypt. Farm the fertile Nile, restore ancient obelisks, explore vast deserts, mine precious metals, and trade with the locals as you regain your lost memories and uncover the mysteries of the afterlife.

Drawing inspiration from titles like Dinkum, Valheim, and Stardew Valley, we're creating a unique adventure in the Egyptian afterlife. Our procedurally generated world combines cozy base-building mechanics with the mystique and wonder of Ancient Egyptian mythology.

Overview

We’re seeking a talented Sound Designer and/or Composer to join our indie team on Aaru: Fields of Eternity, a relaxing single-player survival and crafting game set in a fantastical Ancient Egyptian afterlife. You’ll be creating the SFX and music that bring the world to life. We’d love to find someone who can handle both SFX and music, but if you’re great at just one, don’t hesitate to apply.

You’ll help shape the game’s full soundscape, including:

  • Creature and animal sounds (livestock, birds, wildlife)
  • Player actions (movement, climbing, grunts)
  • Tool use and crafting (digging, sawing, pottery, metalwork)
  • Farming and food processing (watering, harvesting, cooking)
  • Environmental ambience (wind, water)
  • UI and magical feedback (clicks, hovers, teleports)

Roughly 250-350 SFX total, plus layered ambience and original music tracks. We estimate the full SFX set could take 2 - 3 months of part-time work, depending on your workflow and availability. Some player-driven or animation-dependent SFX (e.g. locomotion, tool use) will come later in development, so we’re ideally looking for someone with a flexible part-time schedule over a longer period.

Qualifications

  • Experience matching audio to animations, adding cue points, and working closely with animators.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Bonus Points

  • Experience designing audio for cozy games.
  • Musical influences from Egyptian, African, Middle Eastern, or Arabian-inspired styles.
  • Familiarity with Git or version control workflows.

Deliverables

  • High-quality, engine-ready sound effects and ambient loops.
  • Original music compositions supporting exploration, story moments, and atmosphere.
  • Consistent audio style aligned with the game’s visual and emotional tone.
  • Collaboration with engineers for in-engine (Bevy) integration.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to work on a unique and creative indie game project.
  • Contract position with flexible hours.
  • Fully remote.
