📌 Project Overview

SunFox Studios is a tight‑knit indie team building a PvE‑focused survival sandbox game on our own C#‑based engine. To accelerate both engine features and gameplay systems, we’re looking for a full‑time freelance game programmer who loves digging into low‑level tech and crafting great player experiences.

 

🎯 What You’ll Do

  • Extend and maintain our proprietary C# engine.
  • Implement gameplay features from designer specs.
  • Integrate art, animation, and audio assets.
  • Profile, optimize, and refactor existing systems for performance and API usage.
  • Collaborate daily within the team.

 

🛠️ What We’re Looking For

  • Conversational English.
  • Deep understanding of modern game‑engine architecture.
  • Proven ability to research unfamiliar tech and turn it into shippable robust code.
  • Team‑friendly mindset, open to communicate and participate in meetings.
  • Experience with Git, issue trackers, Scrum/Kanban.
  • Availability to have worktime overlap with Central European working hours (CET).

 

✨ Bonus Points

  • Rendering‑API experience. (OpenGL, Vulkan, GLSL/HLSL).
  • Multiplayer / netcode experience.
  • Multithreading experience.

 

⏰ Timeline & Compensation

  • Start: ASAP
  • Contract: Freelance / contractor, full‑time.
  • Probation: 3 months.
  • Rate: Minimum USD $65,000 per year (negotiable with experience).
  • Location: Fully Remote.

We care about doing things the right way. Sunfox Studios takes a standard approach to internal development. We work in an agile, sprint-based workflow (scrum-like), with an international team operating full-time on flexible schedules (Monday-Friday).

Our focus is on building reliable systems and ensuring that development remains stable and scalable over the long term as we increase team size. We place emphasis on clean code architecture, clear documentation, and consistent standards/workflows to keep iteration efficient and forward-moving.

As we strive for the long-term, this approach allows the studio to scale production without losing control of quality, velocity, or long-term maintainability.
